Your Contract With The Operator

By making a booking and paying the £250 deposit to secure the booking, you are entering into a contract with Northern Leisure and agree to abide by the terms and conditions as set out in this document. Please read this agreement carefully. If there is anything you do not understand or do not agree with, please ask Northern Leisure immediately.

Availability

Occasionally motorhomes are not available as agreed, which is almost always due to events beyond Northern Leisure’s control (see below). If your booking has to be cancelled (Which Northern leisure has the right to do) we will offer you the choice of an alternative motorhome or, if no suitable replacement is available, provide a full refund of all monies you have paid for your booking.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in any of our motorhomes and any infringement of this condition will incur a minimum charge of £250. For the benefit of other users, your cooperation would be appreciated.

Pets

We have specific vehicles for pet owners who wish to take their pets on holiday with them. These vehicles will not be subsequently hired to people who do not have pets with them. A supplementary fee of £30 per pet is chargeable. Any damage incurred will be charged to the hirer in full.

What To Do If You Breakdown

No responsibility can be accepted by Northern Leisure for any loss or damage or expense which occurs as a result of any defect or breakdown unless it is due to a proven reason of Northern Leisure’s failure to adequately maintain the motorhome in a fit state and condition. If you do break down, you should contact the Breakdown service which covers the vehicle and inform Northern Leisure immediately.

Collection & Delivery Times

The motorhome will be available on the day of collection at the agreed time which will be detailed in your booking confirmation letter. The motorhome must be delivered back to the agreed location no later than the agreed date and time which will also be detailed in your booking confirmation letter. Late returns can have a significant impact on the next hire. If you fail to return the motorhome on time you may be liable to an extra charge at the discretion of the operator, but typically £50 per hour plus any additional costs incurred by Northern Leisure as a result. There are no refunds for motorhomes returned early.

Cancellations

All cancellations must be notified in writing to Northern leisure, but please call immediately to inform us as this will improve the chances of rehiring the motorhome.  If notification of your cancellation is received more than six weeks before the start date of your hire you will be refunded in full less the initial payment of £250.  If notification of your cancellation is received less than six weeks before the start date of your hire all monies paid and due are not refundable and you are still liable for any sums not yet paid.  However, Northern Leisure will do all it can to rehire the motorhome and if we are able to do so, you will be refunded up to a maximum of your total hire less your initial payment of £250, subject to the amount Northern leisure is able to rehire the motorhome for.

Booking Confirmation & Payment

An initial payment of £250 is required to confirm the booking, which is non-refundable and enters you into a binding contract for the hire.  The balance of your hire money is payable six weeks prior to the start date of your hire, or at the time of booking if you book less than six weeks from the start date of your hire.  Any documentation you are requested to provide by Northern leisure must be received six weeks prior to the start date of your hire or within two days of booking if less than six weeks from the start date of your hire.  Failure to provide full payment and documents as above will result in the booking being cancelled and the loss of your £250 initial payment.

Hire Period

You will have the vehicle for the agreed hire period which will be detailed in the hire agreement.  If you fail to return the vehicle on time, you are breaching the terms of this agreement and you will be uninsured.  You will be charged for the period that you have the vehicle after the date and time that you should have returned it.  Until the vehicle is returned you will be charged at the rate of £50 per hour.

The Hire Insurance

The motorhome is insured for the period of hire and a copy of the insurance certificate is available from Northern Leisure on request. The insurance cover provided is for the vehicle and equipment only and we therefore recommend that you source your own cover for your own personal possessions prior to hiring the motorhome. Northern Leisure can accept no liability for loss of or damage to personal possessions howsoever caused.

Suitable Persons

Northern Leisure has the right to refuse to hand over a motorhome to any person who, in the reasonable opinion of ourselves, is not suitable to take charge.  In such cases, all hire charges paid will be refunded in full but Northern Leisure has no further liability.

Events Beyond Northern Leisure's Control

Unfortunately, events beyond Northern Leisure’s control occasionally affect bookings. When reference is made to such events in these Conditions of Hire, this means any event(s) or circumstance(s) which Northern Leisure could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Northern Leisure cannot accept responsibility or pay any compensation, costs or expenses where the performance of your contract with ourselves is prevented or affected or you otherwise suffer any loss or damage as a result of events beyond Northern Leisure’s control. This includes any delays to and/or restrictions to your hire to which you may be subject. However, if your booking has to be cancelled as a result Northern Leisure will of course offer you the choice of an alternative motorhome (if available) or refund as described above.

Your Responsibilities
  • You must look after the vehicle and the keys to the vehicle.  You must always lock the vehicle when you are not using it and use any security device fitted to or supplied with the vehicle.  You must always protect the vehicle against bad weather which could cause damage.  You must make sure that you only re-fuel the vehicle with the correct fuel.  You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle caused by hitting low-level objects, such as bridges or low branches.
  • You must not sell, rent or dispose of the vehicle or any of its parts or contents.  You must not give anyone any legal rights over the vehicle.
  • You must not let anyone carry out any repair or maintenance work on the vehicle without Northern Leisure’s written permission.  If we do give you permission, you will only receive a refund if you have a receipt for the work.
  • You must inform Northern Leisure as soon as you become aware of any faults on the vehicle or damage to the vehicle.
  • You must bring the vehicle back to the agreed location on the date and time agreed and you remain responsible for the vehicle until this time.  Northern Leisure must inspect the vehicle to check that it is in good condition.
  • You will have to pay for repairs if you have damaged the vehicle, inside or out and/or the vehicle requires more than our standard valeting (cleaning).
  • Before you return the vehicle, you must check that you have not left any personal belongings in the vehicle.
  • You are responsible for any loss or damage to the motorhome including that caused by neglect, misuse, accident or non-fault incident.
Conditions For Using the Vehicle

The vehicle must only be driven by the authorised drivers who are named on the hire agreement and the driver must hold a full valid driving licence. Failure to comply with these points will invalidate the insurance cover and you will be held responsible for any associated costs.
You or any other authorised drivers must not:

• Use the vehicle for hire or reward;
• Use the vehicle for any illegal purpose;
• Use the vehicle for racing, pacemaking, testing the vehicles reliability and speed testing or teaching someone to drive;
• Use the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
• Drive the vehicle outside England, Scotland and Wales unless we have given you written permission;
• Overload the vehicle.

Charges

Charges are based on Northern Leisure’s price list at the time of booking, other than instances where the demand is exceptionally high (e.g. for certain events or festivals) and a surcharge will apply.  You will be charged for:

The rental and any other charges we work out according to the hire agreement.

A charge for any loss or damage to the motorhome including that caused by neglect, misuse, accident or non-fault incident, subject to the cover provided by the hire insurance.

Any charge for loss or damage resulting from you not complying with condition 12.

You must empty the toilet cassette prior to returning the vehicle to us at the end of the hire period.   There is a £50 charge for un-emptied toilette cassettes and/or for instances where the toilet cassette has been allowed to overflow into the cassette housing. 

A refuelling service charge if you have used, and not replaced, more fuel than was supplied with the vehicle at the start of the hire period.  The charge is based on the cost of the replacement fuel plus £20.

Gas is included, but should you need to replace an empty gas bottle during your hire, this is your responsibility.

All fines and costs (including court costs) for parking, traffic or other offences, congestion charges (including any costs which arise if the vehicle is clamped).  You must pay the appropriate authority any fines and costs if and when the authority demands this payment. If you do not, you will be responsible to pay any costs and reasonable administration charges which arise when Northern Leisure deal with these matters.

Any charges arising from Customs and Excise or Immigration Authorities seizing the vehicle, together with a loss of income charge while Northern Leisure cannot rent out the vehicle, if and when Northern Leisure demand this payment.

Any published or agreed rates for delivering and collecting the vehicle.

Interest which will be added every day to any amount which you do not pay on time, at the rate of 4% a year above the base lending rate of Barclays Bank from time to time.

A security deposit of £1,000 will need to be paid on a credit or debit card in advance of the hire commencing.  This deposit is to cover any loss or damage to the motorhome (externally or internally) and/or the insurance excess in the event of a total loss.  On return of the motorhome, we will inspect the motorhome in detail whilst being cleaned and prepared for the next hire. If the motorhome has been returned whole and undamaged in a clean condition including the toilet cassette being emptied and cleaned, then the security deposit will be released back to your card within 5 working days of the inspection being carried out.  In the event of any loss or damage to the motorhome (externally or internally), costs or insurance claims as described in these terms and conditions, the security deposit is payable to Northern Leisure who will place it in its client account until the claim or dispute is settled. The amount for the settlement will be paid to Northern Leisure. The balance of the security deposit (if any) will be refunded to you.

What To Do If You Have An Accident

No responsibility can be accepted by Northern Leisure for any loss or damage or expense which occurs as a result of any accident.

If you have an accident you must not admit responsibility or any liability. You should obtain the names, addresses and contact numbers of everyone involved in the accident including any witnesses. You should also:
• Make the vehicle secure
• Inform the police straight away if anyone is injured or there is a disagreement over who is responsible
• Inform Northern Leisure immediately
• Complete an accident report form when requested to do so and return this to Northern Leisure at your earliest opportunity.

Windscreens & Tyres

You are responsible for any damage to windscreens and windows, punctures or other damage to tyres during the period of hire. Where possible it should be repaired or replaced as appropriate and paid for by you at the time. You should contact Northern Leisure immediately to seek instructions before carrying out any repair. Failing this, an amount will be deducted from your deposit against damages for the cost of the repairs.

Information

If you break the agreement, we can give any information which you have provided to credit reference agencies, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), debt collection agencies and any other relevant authority or organisation.

Ending The Agreement

• If you are a consumer, we will end this agreement immediately: –
• If your belongings have been taken away to pay off your debts
• If a receiving order has been made.
• If you do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement.
• If you are a company, we will end this agreement immediately: –
• If you enter administration/liquidation
• If you call a meeting of creditors
• If your belongings have been taken away to pay off your debts
• If you do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement.
• If we end the agreement it will not affect our right to receive any monies we are owed under the conditions of this agreement. We can also claim extra costs from you if you do not meet any of the conditions of this hire agreement. We can also repossess the vehicle and charge you if we do this.

Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the country in which it is signed. Any dispute may be settled in the laws of that country.

Benefiting from modern design, Matilda is an Italian motorhome built on the Fiat Ducato and together with Jasmine offers the most spacious layout of all our motorhomes.   The accommodation is suitable for a couple or small group wanting more usable space, or indeed for larger families or groups requiring use of the full six berths available.  There is a large rear lounge offering ample seating for at least six people and which can be converted to a double or single beds if needed.  

In addition there is a further good sized seating area with dining table towards the front of the motorhome (which again converts to a double) and a final fixed large double above the cab of the vehicle.  As with all of our motorhomes, there is plenty of internal storage space, external locker space and a bike rack.

Nellie is a high specification Eura Mobil German coach built motorhome based on the Fiat Ducato.  Being fully winterised it is a great motorhome for all year round travel. 

The rear of the motorhome boasts a large U-Shaped lounge with table which can be converted into a double or two single beds.  A spacious dining table and seating towards the front also converts to a further double with a final large double above the cab of the vehicle.  The living accommodation is completed with a well equipped kitchen and spacious shower room.  As with all of our motorhomes there is ample internal storage as well as external lockers and bike rack.
