Frequently Asked


Is there a minimum or maximum hire period?

Our minimum hire period is 3 nights other than during peak season when this increases to 7 nights.  There is no maximum hire period and we offer discounts for bookings over 3 weeks – please contact us for a bespoke quotation.


Are your motorhomes fully insured?

We include fully comprehensive UK insurance and breakdown cover for one driver as standard. Additional drivers can be added for a small additional charge.
If you are planning on travelling to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe (EU countries only) an additional charge of £100 per week will apply for EU insurance and breakdown cover.

All members of your party are required to arrange their own Travel Insurance prior to travel to cover instances such as lost/damage personal possessions, cancellation etc. Northern Leisure accept no responsibility for any such events.


Do you allow pets?

We do allow dogs in certain motorhomes, dependant on size and breed.  An additional charge of £30 per pet per trip will apply and dogs must be kept off the beds and furniture. 


Can you deliver and collect the motorhome?

Dependant on demand, we may be able to arrange delivery and collection of the motorhome subject to an additional charge.   Please ask for details.


What happens if the vehicle breaks down?

In the unlikely event of a breakdown with the vehicle, we include 24-hour comprehensive breakdown cover as standard.

If you encounter any problems with the appliances/equipment within the motorhome, please contact us for advice.  It may be that you may have to visit a Motorhome dealership for repairs to be carried out and you will be reimbursed for any pre-authorised expenses incurred.

Expenses incurred due to your own fault (such as locking the keys in the vehicle, using the wrong fuel, or running the battery flat will not be reimbursed)


Do you have fixed collection and return times for the motorhomes?

At the time of your booking we will discuss and agree collection and return times with you.  We will do our upmost to be as flexible as possible with collection and return times according to your plans, however, please ensure that these are adhered to so as not to impact on the next customers booking.


Do you impose a mileage limit on your motorhomes?

All hires include unlimited mileage as standard.


Where can I park my car whist I am away?

You are welcome to store your car in our secure building whilst you are away (at your own risk).


Will my normal driving licence be OK to drive a motorhome?

Our motorhomes can all be driven on a standard full UK driving licence.

All drivers of our motorhomes must be over 25 years of age and under 75 and have held a license for at least 2 years

Please let us know if you have any penalty points or convictions on your license – in most cases you’ll still be able to hire a Motorhome, but it may mean a small additional premium to the insurance.


Why do I have to pay a security deposit?

We take a security deposit of £1,000 on a credit or debit card in advance of the hire commencing. This is to cover any accidents or damages to the motorhome and full details are included within our Terms and Conditions.


Is smoking permitted?

We do not allow smoking in any of our motorhomes – this includes tobacco and vaping products. 


What documentation do I have to provide to hire a motorhome?

For each driver we will require the following prior to commencement of the hire: –

  • Driving Licence
  • National insurance number
  • Passport
  • Utility Bill dated within the last 3 months

What is included within the price?

Please refer to the “Whats Included” page for full details of items included as standard and optional extras. If you have any queries at all, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.


How long will a motorhome handover take?

We will spend between 30 minutes and one hour demonstrating and explaining how everything works to make sure you feel comfortable with all the controls.  We also include a user guide in all our motorhomes including photographs, instructions and troubleshooting. 


How do we use the free membership of the Camping and Caravanning Club?

When booking with Northern Leisure, all customers receive free temporary membership of the Camping and Caravanning Club for the duration of your hire, which entitles you to discounts on their campsite fees. Book your campsite by simply calling the service centre on 024 7647 5426 for Club Sites or 024 7647 3008 for Camping in the Forest sites and let the advisor know that you are booking under the Privilege Scheme. A minimal deposit will be taken and upon arrival at the Club Site, your due balance will be discounted accordingly on presentation of the Privilege key fob provided. Alternatively, you can make a non-member booking online at Camping and Caravanning Club and follow the same process. There is also a campsite finder on the website.
